Jordi Alba leaves the Camp Nou pitch in tears for the very last time

Marcos Alonso Mendoza is a Spanish professional football player who was born on December 28, 1990, in Madrid, Spain. He is primarily known for his defensive skills as a left-back or left wing-back.

Alonso started his youth career with Real Madrid in 1998, where he spent nine years before moving to the English club Bolton Wanderers in 2010. He made his professional debut for Bolton in the same year in a 4-0 win over York City in the League Cup.

After spending a season with Bolton, Alonso signed for Italian club Fiorentina in 2013. He quickly became a regular in the team and impressed with his solid defensive performances and his ability to create attacking opportunities. During his three years at Fiorentina, he made 85 appearances and scored 10 goals.

 

In August 2016, Alonso moved to English Premier League club Chelsea for a reported fee of around £23 million. He quickly established himself as a key player for the club, playing an important role in their successful 2016-17 Premier League campaign, in which he scored six goals and provided three assists.

Alonso has also represented the Spanish national team at various levels. He made his senior debut in March 2018 in a friendly against Argentina. He has since made a total of 12 appearances for Spain as of my knowledge cutoff in September 2021.

Off the pitch, Alonso is known for his charitable work. He has been involved in several projects to support underprivileged children, including building a school in Ghana through his charity foundation. Additionally, he holds a degree in economics from the Universidad Camilo José Cela in Madrid.
